Error Code 4

I am attempting to install XP Pro on a new hard drive.
This is a full version and I previously installed it once
before (prior to the hard drive crash -need I say
more...). It begins the load process and then stops with
an error message reading "File setupdd.sys could not be
loaded. The Error Code is 4"

I have looked on the microsoft site to try to identify
this error without luck. Anybody have any ideas what may
be going on???

This is a new 60 gig Hitachi HD on an IDE setup.

Would this be consistent with a fresh install? On a Fresh
Hard Drive? That sounds like something that you would
expect after an OS has been loaded. Thank you very much
for your previous response by the way. Nice to know this
board is so active and responsive.

Sounds like there is some kind of hardware problem by the article, could be
anything. Hardware is not my area, if you need more details, perhaps post to the
Hardware area of the NG with more details on what you have added etc. Have you
tried some of the recommendations in the article?

I just went to it now and I will try the suggestions. I
have 512 of RAM so I will pull one out and see what
happens there and then go on to the HD side of things.

Thank you again for your help.

You're welcome, at least you have a starting point to investigate the problem.
