error code 10

i have an external hard disk and dvd-rw dl which i just
purchased for my laptop. my usb ports are usb 1.1 ports
and the devices work but at reduced performance. i have
gone out and purchased a usb 2.0 cardbus adapter pcmcia
card. when i installed the adapter and pluged in all the
devices none of them are being recognised. for the dvd-rw
i keep gettin an error code 10. thanks

Don't forget to connect extarnal power supply to the card.
If your card does not allow connecting external power, quickly go
back to the store, and exchange it to another model.

Also, in Device Manager (Start-Run-devmgmt.msc), you should try removing
all of the problematic devices and then reboot. Windows should
reinstall all of the drivers and possibly fix your problem
