Windows XP Error code 0x80090006

My computer: dell desktop demention 2400 1g ram 4 yrs old, post Windows Product Activation. A problem is preventing Windows from accuratley checking the license for this computer. Error code 0x80090006. When I start in safe mode to fix it my keyboard dose not work: the num lock lite is on but I cannot change it or type in any thing. Please help! Steve

It's a desktop PC wiz, so I don't think that's the problem in this case. :)

Have you done anything recently that might cause this problem, such as change the primary drive letter? According to this MS KB article, that is a reason that could cause it : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914232/en-us

See the steps at the bottom of that link for repair suggestions, as it recommends doing a repair install to fix this :thumb:

No I did not change any drive letter,I do not know how to do that!

That is correct, if you reinstall then it will delete everything on the drive. However you can back up the data to a CD or DVD.
