error code: 0x80070005

i upgraded my os from win 2k sp4 to win xp sp1, everytime i try to update my
service pack with sp2, i always received this error in the portion of
updating my registry. same result when i try to instal the win installer 3.1.

i have tried to set the permissions on windows update on the registry, but
still it doesn't work.

may i ask everybody how could i resolve this problem
