error C00D109B

I keep getting error code C00D109B when I try to play a movie file (mpeg)
with WMP ...a friend told me to download (Elecard MPEG-2 Video Decoder
Package 2.0) from here

& I was wondering if it was safe to do so.

The error code C00D109B occurs if required codec is missing so you ofcourse
need to download MPEG codec to get this fixed. The free codec site is
suggested by many and as helped always. However, i would look for a player
like PowerDVD / WinDVD which is provided by my computer vendor as it would
install the necessary codecs. This would have a better performance than a
free codec. Once you have the players installed, WMP would share the codes
from them.
