Codecs for MPG

At first I couldn't import my MPG file into the "Collection" area. Now, I
can, but once I add it to my timeline and play it, the video appears
backwards and with green horizontal lines. I know this has something to do
with the codecs I have, but I don't know which ones I need or perhaps which
ones I should not have.

The codecs listed under Tools/Options/Compatibility are as follows:

Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder Version 2.0.0.2525
Ogg Splitter Version 0.9.9.5
WMplug version 0.0.0.0
Sonic CM(R) DS VideoDecoder 4.0 Version 4.0.0.46
DirectVobSub (Auto-loading Version) version 1.0.0.9
Elecard MPEG2 Demultiplexer version 2.0.84.30429
ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder version 1.0.0.1

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for the links, I checked them out. The unfortunate thing now is
that I cannot even import a video into the "Collection" without Movie Maker
Crashing. I was hoping that I could atleast convert it to AVI, but at this
point I can't. I was under the impression that Movie maker was able to open
..mpg files since it is listed under the extensions when opening a file.

Some .mpgs work...some dont. Try
converting them to a different format
before importing. This is explained in
the articles I posted for you.
