error attempting to join computer to domain

After i put the name of the domain i want to connect to, it prompts me for a
username/password. I put in the correct password combination, and it takes a
while, like it normally does, but then it comes back with this error message:
the following error occured attempting to connect to the domain 'my domain
name':
The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.

Can anyone please help!?

I bypassed that problem on on machine by appending ".local" to the domain
name... unfortunatly I am having domain problems on that machine, not sure if
they are related to each other... I dont think so....

Is your domain, and the computer, setup properly?
