error and needs to close

Hi,

Running Windows XP Home Edition, Getting this error

Explorer has caused an error and needs to close.

Details:

App Name: Explorer.exe
App: 6.0.2800.1221
Mod Name: user32.dll
Mod ver: 5.1.2600.1255
Offset: 0006d88

any help is appreciated, restore from earlier time and still have problem
and it does it in safe mode as well.

To repair all system files, go to Start/Run, and type: SFC /SCANNOW

What kind of software, and extra hardware do you have running? antivirus?
firewall?

Mark, could not get to the start/run prompt, had to use task manager and go
to command prompt, this fixed the problem, thanks,

sounds like a file
system error -
might need to run
a chkdsk and a
defrag.

see if booting into
safemode will
get you into windows.

if so and it looks normal,
then you can initiate a
chkdsk command
to initiate upon
rebooting.

to run a chkdsk
open my computer
and right click on
your system drive (c)
and select properties
then tools.
