after installing SP2 on a corporate edition XP box I get
errors about creating a temporary user profile and get
the error :"a problem is preventing windows from
accurately checking the license for this computer. Error
code: 0x800405aa" tehn it logs itself off.

"Corporate' editions of XP will not accept SP1 or SP2.. turn that statement
around.. SP1 and 2 check for the validity of a 'legal' license.. your
version of XP is pirated..

My version is not pirated I work for a large corporation
and am using a volume key I have gotten legitimately! Once
again screwed by MS! We have an Enterprise license , Open
License Select license or whatver the MS guys call it. The
point is it is legitimate. So now what do I do? Anyone
with a clue here?

Call the IT support if you are in a large corporation!

Thats a helpful response. Perhaps he is in IT support. Tech support
people cannot know every problem that can occur. you learn by
experience and research.. Of course not all of IT support are
brilliant individuals such as yourself either...

If you cannot provide a constructive response to people in need then
maybe you should not reply at all. Anyway, doing a google search
provided the following links with answers to resolve this issue.

Hope it helps.

Volume License software accept any Volume License key. Maybe you are using
legitimate software media with a pirated key.
