Error after active directory installation

B

Bob

After upgrading my only domain from nt4 to Windows 2000 Active
Directory, I have the following 2 event logs on all clients and
servers: -

Event ID 1000 - Source UserEnv

The logged on user's forest is different from the machine's forest.
Cross Forest Group Policy processing is disabled and loopback
processing has been enforced in this forest for this user account.

Event ID 1000 - Source UserEnv

Windows cannot do loopback processing when the computer is joined to a
downlevel domain or is a member of a workgroup. Loopback processing
will be disabled.

I only have one domain and one forest.

My domain is called domain1.com and all my servers belong to domain1

I have no problems logging on and my logon scripts run fine.

Apart from the default domain policy and the default domain
controllers policy (which have not been modified), I have NO other
GPO's. So, why am I getting errors related to loopback processing?
Loopback processing is definitly NOT enabled.

I have run a DCDIAG on the domain conntroller and all tests were
passed OK.

Any help would be appreciated!

Bob,

Here is the stupid question of the day: are your computer accounts
maintained in the same domain as the user accounts? It seems very clear to
me from your opening sentence that the answer to this would be yes!

IIRC, Loopback processing is not available in an upgraded domain
environment - meaning you had a WINNT environment and you upgraded the WINNT
4.0 PDC to WIN2000. This -MIGHT- be the cause for those two errors that you
are seeing. I have not done an upgrade in a good long while so I can not
tell you from experience if this is the case....

HTH,

Cary
