Following suggestions about this error, I've changed my outgoing server to my
ISP (Telstra Big Pond). I can send an Outlook 2007 test message via my
business server which is confirmed by incoming email.
However, when I try to send a message I still get the above error.
Any help would be appreciated.

First, post the correct error. All Outlook errors contain eight hexadecimal
digits. You posted only seven.

Dear Brian,
Sorry for the delay in responding. For an entirely different reason I've had
to format my laptop. This seems to have solved the problem (sledgehammer
approach).
