Hi. I have two vpn clients at the same remote office. One
using w2k the other xp. The xp client can connect to the
vpn. The w2k client gets a 720 error, could not agree on
a ppp protocol. It looks as though they are configured
the same. Can someone please help. Thank you.

It could be as simple as a personal firewall or some 3rd party networking
component installed on the W2k machine;vpn client, pppoe adapter. If not,
take a look at:
810979 "Error 720" Error Message When You Try to Establish a Dial-Up
Connection

and see if it applies.

Thanks Danny, There was a Cisco vpn client installed.
However, even after uninstall, I get the same error.
Would the pppoe show up in the properties of the
connection? Thanks.

Usually PPPoE shows up as it's own virtual adapter. It's more likely that
the Cisco VPN client did not completely uninstall. You probably want to
check there web site to see if there is a manual uninstall. Some of these
clients add a "Deterministic Network Enhancer" that also causes problems.
It will show up as a component of the network adapter and you can unbind it
or uninstall it from there.
