Error 7031

Receive this error message when trying to download files
from the internet especially Windows Update.
Says "svchost.exe has an error and will be shut down and
is logging an error".Once this occurrs activities such as
using the search function and moving files between folders
ie. cut-paste no longer function until I reboot the
machine. Windows update also will not be able to install
downloaded files until reboot?

You might want to make sure you are at the latest Service Pack level for
Windows 2000. There are a couple of known issues dealing with RPC causing an
erorr 7031 that are fixed in the latest Service Pack.
