Error 53 in browstat and can't ping one workstation

I have set up network with file/printer sharing used all of Chucks website
tips.

Three computers are interconnected fine. They share etc. One is the Master
Browser and is hardwired to wireless router. Other two are wireless
connected.

The above three work fine. However the two workstations have the error 53
in their browstat. I had made a few changes to force the nodetype from
unknown to broadcast. Wasnt worth it when I got the error 53. Undid the
registry changes but still have the error 53. Workgroups on all three only
show the Master Browser.

On fourth wireless workstation, I can ping the other three computers and
the wireless router but cannot ping this computer from the other three. When
I run browstat on this computer, I am told browser is not enabled. Can't
share with this computer. Sometime see this computer in others's workgroup
list but can't access.

Any ideas how to get rid of error 53 and how to get 4th workstation working?

THanks

Pete,

I've tried to help you a couple of time, but you don't seem to respond. Why not
work interactively with me?

Have you been able to follow thru my troubleshooting guide?

If no help there, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer here, so we can diagnose the problem together. Provide name and
edition of the operating system on each computer please.

Sorry,

I got two little ones so I'm typically spending a few minutes at a time.

Anyway, I have run through all of your troubleshooters and guides and that
actually got my three machines working interactively. The fourth one is the
problem. I get proper IPCoNfigs on all four with "unkown" nodes. IN
browstat on the three, the Master browser looks fine with no errors. The two
working stations acknowledge the browser but give the error 53.

The fourth station has the browser not on domain problem.

The fourth station can ping the other three, plus the router, but the other
three cannot ping it.

The fourth station has no firewall software on it.

Two of the other two (Master broweser and one other workstation run Norton
PFW but I have got that configured properly and as I said, the other three
run ok between them (share files/printers) but the two workstations get the
error 53 which does not seem to be causing me any problems.

Your thoughts?

Pete,

Occasionally, I see someone who says they've "read everything". Then they post
diagnostics, and I notice a detail that didn't look interesting to them. That
doesn't happen all of the time, but it might happen here. You won't gain
anything, by ignoring the possibility.

I just added a detail to a couple of the articles yesterday, which could apply
to your "error = 53". What operating system is the master browser running?

If the fourth computer can ping, but cannot be pinged, and it displays "no
browser", you have to look for a physical or logical problem. What antivirus
are you running? Is NBT enabled?
