Error 53

Got 2 computers on a LAN under WinXP Professional

One when using Browstat reporting shows no error. But has no Remote
Registry Service entry in services.msc

The other when using Browstat reporting gives me an error 53 but has
a Remote Registry Service entry in services.msc

Also used WinsockFix on both

The LAN was created using standard Network Wizard and has file and printing
sharing enabled.

NetBios over TCP/IP is enabled in both and Computer Browser, Server, etc
are all running under services.

Would appreciate and be grateful for any help.

The error 53 comes up when the master browser is the other computer, and isn't
running the RRS. Browstat on the mb computer itself doesn't show an error 53,
just on the other computer. So which computer was the master browser?

Thanks for that Chuck....I've read your links tried Lspfix but it didn't show
anything wrong, then reset the stack using the netsh command and also
implemented winsock catalogue command.

Computer which doesn't show Remote Registry Services on the .msc panel
I venture is the Master Browser. Do I need to somehow re-install RRS?
If so, how? As you can gather I'm a bit confused.

Kim,

Do you have any actual problems to resolve? The "error = 53" is a symptom of
not having the RRS running, but nothing more serious. BlackViper, the best
known Windows Services expert, advises us to simply disable the RRS.

Does browstat show any other problems? You're welcome to post it, with
"ipconfig /all", here, so we can help you interpret it.

Ok it's like this:

On machine giving error 53 (LANSYS2), if go to the Windows Network and try
to open
the other machine's (LANSYS1) C: drive it takes very long to display
contents.
Opening any other drives on LANSYS1 or LANSYS2 displays instantly.

Also because I use programs installed on LANSYS2 that have to see programs
installed on LANSYS1 C: drive; I keep getting error messages indicating they
cannot
see them. Likewise if I do a pipe comand from LANSYS1 to LANSYS2 such as
c:\ipconfig /all >M:\lansys1log.txt

I get: The system cannot find the path specified.

Is there a better way than this to network the 2 machines via a router
acting as
gateway?

Here are the ipconfigs:

buy you a beer or two.
