Error 5 / Access is Denied when starting service

We have a service running on Windows 2000 server that has
been configured to run under the LocalSystem login and has
suddenly stopped working a few hours ago. The rest of the
services running on the server using LocalSystem appear to
be working fine. What is interesting is the fact that if I
change the login used to run the service to be the admins
login the service works fine. Do you have an idea of what
could be causing the problem?

Enable auditing to be sure. Any chance you've explicitly denied rights for
localsystem to any object(s)?
