Error 2203 message during install

After trying the various offered options to find my reminders and tasks, I
decided to uninstall Office Standard 2007 and reinstall. On repeated
attempts the installation hangs and gives the error message Error 2203 . An
internal error has occurred. It then gives a path to a non-existent file as
to get support.

Can someone please tell me what to do. I seem to be sinking further and
further into the mud. :)

That's probably a Windows Installer error, I suspect the uninstall didn't
run correctly and damaged the installation. I'll refer you to this article
which deals with troubleshooting such errors:

How to use a setup log file to troubleshoot setup problems in Office

I think this utility will help:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

The utility does NOT uninstall the program, it it removes all installation
records from Windows Installer so that a program can be re-installed to fix
the damage, then uninstalled correctly.
