error 1711 when installing itunes or java

I get this "error 1711 An error occured while writting installation
information to disk" whenever I try to install itunes or Java. It seems to
think my harddrive is full but i have 15G free. I've run every utility I can
think of with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried backing
out the service pack2 for XP but it didn't make a difference. It is either a
problem with windows installer or my harddrive.
I would sure appreciate any help. I've already got several hours inested in
this problem. Thanks!

Janet,

Clear the TEMP folder and try again. If not, Methods 2 & 3 in the following site may help.

Thank you Ramesh!
It was the TEMP folder. I had assumed that the disk cleaning utilities I
was running would have cleaned this out. I also had this folder hidden.
Once I showed all folders in the folders options, I had 30,000 files in this
folder! Once I deleted all, everthing is working again. The installShield
web site had very good instructions for this.

Thanks again
