Audio Configuration Error - iTunes

I've ran iTunes on my computer in the past, no problem. Until now...

I have been getting this error message when trying to start up my iTunes now
that says, "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your
audio configuration."

I have tried uninstalling & re-installing iTunes, but that didnt work... I
tried running scan-disk & defrag- still nothing. I checked the audio
properties in the control panel, but couldnt find anything either!

Does anyone out there have any idea what I can do to fix this???
