error 1606 when installing norton internet security

I am trying to install Norton Internet security using
W2000 and continue to get error message 1606 and thus
cannot install.
I have tried the recommended cures. Anyone have any ideas
before I fire this back to the dealer?
 
You haven't said which version of NIS your trying to
install.
However lately there have been lots of problems reported
with NIS and windows, get rid of norton NIS and get a free
firewall zonealarm is free, or do a search for a hardware
firewall.
