Error 1402 when trying to uninstall a program

Running XP Home SP3. I downloaded a trial version of Migo Software PC Backup
Pro. Had problems running the program, and wanted to uninstall. Uninstalling
in Contol Panel/A/R Programs yeilds an "Error 1402. Could not open key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.nbk\Shell New. Verify you have
sufficient access." Searched MS KB articles and found kb236592. Went into
Registry, found key, right clicked, selected permissions, changed to give me
full control, checked "Replac e permission entries on all child objects..."
Tried to uninstall again, got same error message.

I am unable to send a support inquiry to Migo Tech Support since I didn't
buy, and don't have a serial number. Located their phone numbers. One doesn't
connect, the other doesn't answer.

I recall thet Microsoft had a uninstall utility that I used to get rid of
some Symantec "leftovers". Is it still available would it work? Please help.

Hi Phil,
Well you have to Reinstall Migo again and try the Uninstall from either
Add/Remove or use the uninstaller of Migo on the start menu > All program >
Migo>> Uninstall.

Or manually delete all folders for Migo in the windows Explorer which looks
like these entries:
C:\Program Files\Migo Software\Migo Digital Backup 3 Premium\PxrKVTray.exe
C:\Program Files\Migo Software\Migo Digital Backup 3
Premium\Engine\KVLService.exe
C:\Program Files\Migo Software\Migo Digital Backup 3
Premium\Engine\Remote\KVRService.exe

Download this tool and clean up the rest of orphans will be left behind.
http://www.ccleaner.com
Run disk clean up after this.
HTH.

You gave this advice, and I have a similar issue with Adobe Acrobat 6.0. Do
you have any other suggestions (other than different file names to remove,
which would be helpful)?

thx

Ron
