i'be been sending/receiving emails for quite some time now, within the last
few days, the following message displays. I'm using MS Vista Basic, and ISP
w/security-McAfee. I have attempted to resolve this issue by doing some of
the following: deleting all emails associated with the referenced message,
deleting the contact cited in the message and re-establishing the contact and
I've verified my
"Authenticiation" box is checked...but to no avail. I do not have any
messages in my outbox and also am prompted with "One or more messages in
your outbox do not have a valid account specified. Would you like to use
your default account to send messages.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed).'. Subject 'Fw: Bixel

The part that says:
"If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact
your e-mail service provider."
is most relevant.

There's an extra period (.) in the e-address - gmail.com. (as shown in the
error message below)

Remove the trailing period (.) and let us know if you get any other error
message.

I had previously "deleted" that contact before seeing the xtra "." in the
address, b however the error message continues to appears with each email I
send out regardless of the email address.... Is there anything you can
think of that I might check?

Check the address carefully in your contacts list, also start typing it in
the To box so that it "auto-fills" and look it over carefully. There's this
sort of "contact reserve" of the people you have recently emailed and it may
be wrong in there, but correct in your actual contacts list. Also, always
post the most recent error message so we can look at it.

the error message does not look to have changed since I first raised the
issue, I have emptied my mailbox and emailed myself but the message still
occurs regardless if I'm sending myself or someone else a email.
I have no problem sending or receiving messages. I am at loss... thanks

I failed to mention in my post earlier today, I also continue to get the
windows box prompt when sending test messages from my default account to
myself using my default account . I get this in addition to the error
0x800ccc79 message.

One or more message in your Outbox do not have a valid account specified.
Would you like to use your default account to send these Y N ?

Oh, I've completely emptied the outbox and I continue to get prompted to
send outgoing messages using my default account with an empty outbox.

thanks in advance

Did you check the "outgoing server requires authentication" box?
http://windstream.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/355/related/1

Unfortunately the Windstream support pages do not list port or security
settings, so you'll probably need to call them to get the correct ones.

Well, you still have the same invalid email address with that extra period .
.. . . . "The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed).'." Is this
recipient in your contacts list? Copy and paste the address from there
(actually go to the Contacts list and highlight, Ctrl+C - don't just re-type
it), only x-out the first part as you've done . . .

I didn't clarify well enough - I wanted you to copy and paste that email
address from your contacts list into a post here . . . .

That period is getting in there from somewhere and all you / we can do is
try to figure out where it is coming from. Either you're typing it that way
or it is stored in contacts that way. Is this a new email or a reply? It
is possible the sender has it set up that way (in error) in their account
(on their Tools - Accounts - General tab - User Information) - ask them to
check it, too.

A third possibility is that the illegal address is auto-completing from
the OP's auto-complete list.

DV, Windows Mail does not auto-complete from your contacts.
It uses a separate list of the last 29 recipients you've sent mail to.

You can delete the entire auto-complete list as follows:
http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...il-auto-complete-entries-in-Windows-Mail.html

Or try this other utility to selectively remove some unwanted addresses:
http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...tly-used-email-addresses-in-Windows-Mail.html

The newer replacement mail program, Windows Live Mail, uses the
standard contacts list for auto-completion.
You are encouraged to upgrade to the newer WLM program:

from DV:
let me clarify, that error message occured when I first sent the message to
the address cited and received the error notice. I immediately deleted the
email contact and re-established....I did not see the xtra "." in the contact
address but I went ahead and deleted it anyway. I also emptied "all"
folders to include my Outbox. Since then I continue to receive the
"One or more messages in your Outbox do not have a valid account
specified. Would you like to use your default account to send these
messages. YES NO."

along with the Error 0x800CCC79 message.

thanks

DV

I've also been in contact with Windstream, and they verified that the Port
Servers
25/110 were correct.

I had the same problem and it nearly drove me crazy! I finally went to my
address book and deleted and re-entered all the addresses I had problems with
and it works fine now! They were never entered wrong but something in the
address book must have been corupt somehow. Anyway, it solved it in seconds.
Good luck!
