ERROR 0x80010534

I run the install process as an administrateur thru windowupdate under a
W2000 pro uptodate. At the moment to open Windowdefender I receive the
message: "application failed to initialize 0x80010534 le mappage entre les
noms de compte et les ID de securité n'a pas été effectué". and get in
MpCmdRun.log

(I never encountered this problem with any others software °

I don't have a fix for the error message--I would recommend making certain
that all critical patches for Windows http://update.microsoft.com (and click
on express), including the Windows Installer 3.1
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803
are installed.

I had checked that my systemW2000pro was uptodate prior to post my problem
:using the microsoft tool (iit's normal because I weekly run microsoft update
).Nevertheless I have done what you suggested: reinstalled microsoft
installer ,restart my system as request, rerun the windows defender setup but
the result still stay the same with the same error code. Thanks to get me
other guideline to fix it ( I had previously desinstall my previous microsoft
antispyware beta1 so I am now in trouble with this problem that an other user
posted before me in the other discussion group talking about software
compatibility). thanks .CJ

Hi,
i also got this same error after i installed windows defender beta
"successfully". i use windows 2000 SP4 (german version). And windows
installer 3.1has been also installed.

Could someone help me?

some more infos: I spent a lot of time analysing all the files .log and do
not know if all the others users having the problem shared the same data and
feeling: 1) if the code 0x80010534 is the last one that appears when the
system try to start wdefender ,the code 0x8007052e is return as logon user
exw(network service) failed to obtain sosclientid and windowupdate return a
code 0x80070643...alot of others detailed warnings along the complex process
of setup control let me think it could be possible that all the problem may
have an origin in the way microsoft enforced some controls without taking in
account the real world(may be to prepare a final commercial version of the
product or to secure/protect the access from risks). if I am not true it
coould be a software error in relation with all the process control that
appears thru the logs analysis where there are a lot of decision based on the
large choice of microsoft systems with which Wdefender need to operate. I
said that because it seems that the system perfectly complete the upgrade of
each component but finally failed along further ultimate controls and change
keys values.
May be my experimental analysis is more based on experience with situations
from the past than on perfectly rational analysis but this may give some idea
to the microsft people because since the first user notification on july 27
the did not provided us any serious solving issue. thanks and I stay waiting
feedback nd a fix to install and operate this product (in beta phase all the
actors are commited to fix problems and enforced the code of the future
product using customer feedback. it's not a chat room !)

reading in detail all the newsgroup message I noticed several time the fact
that windefender could be start thru the command net start windefend ; I
tried that and the system respond me to type helpmsg 2182 that said
windefend service was active (?) . I verify that thru the command net service
: windefender service is active ( and RPC service also to respond a
frequently asked control in the newsgroup) . A that point I really not
understand why the application windefender can't start and continue to
provided the same error code that in the prevoius tests? thanks to provide
me and all the other users a solution.we stay in trouble with the same
install malfunction in the same kind of W2000 uptodate environnement(all
security updates applied thru windowupdate, including msinstaller) ? what
could we do to go ahead ?
