Error 0x80000003 Outlook cannot initialize

Are there errors when you try to open it? What's in your event viewer now
for Outlook?

As for disabling your scanner, did you see if there was email scanning
listed in your running services? You will see services when you Manage My
Computer. The name of the service may depend upon what AV application you're
using. Instead of disabling, with some such as Norton, you may have to
completely uninstall and reinstall (omitting the integration with Outlook).
Norton has a tool on their website to assist you in uninstalling the
programme. If the application is uninstalled, there is no email scanning to
disable of course.

Do you have Windows desktop search installed?

The same error that I have had all along - it says outlook cannot initialize
and lists error 0x80000003.

I get this from the event viewer:

System

[ Name] Microsoft Office 12 Sessions

- EventID 7003

[ Qualifiers] 0

Level 3

Task 0

Keywords 0x80000000000000

Microsoft Office Outlook
12.0.6504.5000
12.0.6425.1000

One of the first things I did was uninstall Norton completely, using their
removal tool (twice), but it changed nothing. It does sound like an error
caused by Norton, but in this case I can't see how it can be when the program
still doesn't work after Norton has been removed. Something similar has
happened with Paint Shop Pro, but it was up and running again the second
Norton was off the computer - and I have installed a fix so it is now working
together with Norton.

Oh, forgot to reply to Windows desktop search - what does it do? I have a
Danish OS so the names are different. The only search function I know of is
the one in the Start button.

Application: Microsoft Office Outlook - From a newsgroup post: "Outlook 2007
froze whenever I had to reply to a Calendar reminder. I have tried repairing
Outlook 2007, but that has apparently not helped. I had the Exchange 2003
System Manager installed on my computer along with Outlook 2007 and Windows
Desktop Search (WDS) 3.01. I was told to run the fixmapi.exe program to try
to fix the problem that I was having. This did not fix my problem. However,
it did make me think about whether or not there might be a bigger problem
with System Manager. I had already uninstalled WDS and hence Outlook was
working fine. Then I decided to uninstall System Manager, reinstall WDS, and
everything worked great".

But what can I do about it? I have looked for ways to disable it, but that
does not seem to be an option. My Vista is OEM, so I do not have a Vista CD
to reinstall any features I remove - if I find out how to remove them, that
is.

Ask your vendor how to add Vista-native items to your PC.

I cannot open Outlook anymore. It shuts down without opening due to "a
problem". The only clue I can get is the error number 0x80000003.

I have searched on the net and found many others with the same problem, but
no solution anywhere.

I have tried to run repair from the cd, but it changed nothing.
