Erroneous New Email Message

When my computer starts up, at the User screen I get a message that I have
two new emails, which shows even though I have read and/or deleted all new
emails. I have emptied the Deleted Items folder and viewed all other folders
to be sure that there aren't any unread mails anywhere. How do I get rid of
the erroneous message?

Welcome Screen's new mail notification message is coming from Windows, not
your Mail Client, Jeanette.

Compliments of Kelly:

Use TweakUI/Logon/Unread Mail and Repair/Unread Mail Count
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen (Line 100)

To remove an account or to change the count manually:

Start>Run>Regedit>navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In
the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.

Thanks, Kelly. The RegEdit fix worked!

Cheers, Jeanette.
