Erratic Mouse/Choppy Sound

Hi All,

I reformatted my hard drive a couple of weeks ago,
reinstalled all of my programs and thought all was well.
Then I started noticing that my mouse, which is an
optical wired mouse, began to lag when I moved it across
the desktop. Also, when this happens I notice that if
I'm listening to music or anything it starts to sound
very choppy. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling
the mouse, other various programs, defragmenting and
nothing seems to work. Does anyone know what might be
going on? I sure would appreciate some help.

Thanks,

David

You may want to post on one of the comp.hardware news groups. Other than
that, you may have an IRQ conflict. I would try going into the bios and
turning off "PnP OS Installed" for a few cold boots and then reset it later.
This allows the motherboard to set the IRQs and once that is done the OS may
just accept them. Have you checked your settings in Device manager, or
check the Administrative tools to see if you show any problem devices?
