Err Msg 45 - printers disappear until reboot

Win2k, HP LJ 2300n networked printer:

I got an Error Message 45, GDI fault... and the printers
all disappeared from the printers folder. On reboot, they
were back and ok. A second time this happened also, with
an error message 54 ... On reboot all were ok. Machine
has been working fine (new machines, 4 weeks old) till
this. The driver used is PCL5e - one application used
doesn't like PCL6.

Has anybody seen this? Thx!

Thanks, yes, I have checked that, and I've not seen any
Access Violation or Spoolsv errors.
