EQ2 and RC1

I have no trouble running EQ2 under XP and Vista Beta2, but I can't for the
life of me get it to work with RC1. I finally got the launchpad to load by
running EQ2.exe as administrator, but I still can't log into the login
servers. It stops dead at "authenticating". If I bypass the launchpad and
start the game directly with everquest2.exe, I get a message saying could not
connect to login servers. I tried pinging all the addresses Sony lists and
all but 1 connected ( the same one doesn't connect in XP either..it's blocked
from pings by Sony).
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks

I am able to run EQ2 under RC1 without major issues. I do get an error
message about a particular program associated with it (I'll post later with
that info.) I do remember the first time I launched it the Firewall popped
up asking me if I should allow the Launchpad to continue with access or to
block. After choosing yes it works fine.

I've read that some folks had to run the game by first right clicking the
eq2.exe app and choosing Run as Administrator... I've not had to do that
and in fact notice no difference when I do.

More than likely SoE blocks ICMP from their internet gateway and/or Firewall
to prevent ping bombs and other sundry hack attacks.

Hi,

Tried running as admin?
Tried running with compatibility mode?

The program may not be supported fully, so be aware that there may be
nothing you can do.

An update on this.

Build 5600

I've been able to run EQ2 after installing PC-cillin for Vista beta with no
problems. But, as soon as I uninstall PC-cillin I can no longer connect to
the login servers. Yes, I've allowed the three exes through the firewall and
run it as administrstor. PC-cillin changes "something" that allows me to
connect.
Anyone have any idea what it might change?
Thanks
