Epsons r200 CD printing problems

Hello everybody

I have posted to this forum before regarding the above. At the moment I
am loading the CD tray pushing it a little so the rollers grab it, it
goes out the back and then comes in again. At this point what should
happen is that about halfway back through it should stop, printer heads
whirl into action and printing starts. Instead what is happening is
the CD comes all the way back out and I get message that CD/DVD tray is
not loaded correctly. I then reset the DVD tray press the middle
button which is flashing red and the whole process starts again. About
one in five times I get to print a CD. Is it time to throw the printer
out the window or is there anything I can do? (The clear plastic end
is still attached to the tray but as it is not bent as tray goes
through to the back fine, I assume it is not the problem.)

Thanks

Master

YOU MIGHT CALL EPSON AND ASK ABOUT ANOTHER CD TRAY. THEY HAVE HAD
PROBLEMS WITH CD TRAYS.

Hi

I have already got one new CD tray off them as a result of previous
problems. I can't understand why it would be the CD tray if it is
going through the machine OK - it is just not stopping when it is
supposed to....

I'm not up on the current design of the r200 CD print tray. There
appears to be a new design

Your problem might involve the sensors, or the white reflectors, I
don't honestly know, but it might be worth checking out if your tray
has the angular nose with clear plastic lip or the butt end with two
1/2 round tips. I personaly have abandoned the r200 in favor of the
ip3000 simply because the ip3000 while IMHO a lesser photo printer it's
not skipped a beat since I bought it.

Not to repeat the manual, but do you have the printer set to A4 and manual
feed? If I don't have both of these settings, I get the behaviour you
describe on my R200. When set correctly, mine pulls the tray all the way in,
spits it back out to the alignment arrows, pulls it in again and then
prints.

Just a thought.

I had this trouble once. Seems the tray goes out the back of the
printer several inches. If there is an obstruction in the back, then
the tray will come back out and you will get the error message. My two
cents worth.

I have had the same problem since purchasing the R210/R200 eighteen
months ago, and yes, I do have it set to A4 and manual feed, and yes I
do run couple of sheets though the printer before printing a CD. I
find that the first time I attempt to print a CD it spits the tray out
then after I've turned the printer off and restart it will work okay.
I now wait until I have a number of CD's to print, this way I only
have to go though the routine once in a while.
Searching on Google brings up numerous complaints in regards this
problem with the Epson R210/R200. In my opinion it's a just crap
printer, and I regret not buying a Cannon.
I notice that Epson has changed the model to an R230, don't know if
this is an improvement or not, but it looks very much the same as the
R210.
