Epson Stylus Photo R300 not printing correctly

Hi,

My Epson Stylus Photo R300 only seems to print a small
amount of any document before stopping printing and then
ejecting the paper, and then printing nonsense ascii
characters. Have tried reinstalling drivers, changing
spool directory (as requested by Epson), printing when
first starting PC - the only thing that will successfully
print is the test print from Windows.

Does any one have any ideas or is the printer going back
to be replaced by a HP or Canon??
