Hello,

just got a problem with a Epson Stylus 790. Downloaded the correct drivers
from Epson Website and installed them. During this XP said, this is not the
correct driver for this device. And so it was. The prinbter is not working
at all. All red lights blinking. The printer is ok, so it must be the
driver.
Windows has no built in driver for this printer so is have to use the Epson
or generic drivers.

Does anyone know a solution to this?

Thx,
Daniel

Where did you download the drivers from and which language driver was it.

I just went to the UK website and they show two drivers for XP. One, the
main driver, is 5.2as for both Win 2000 and Win XP, and the status
monitor 3 is 1.0cs which is for just about every Win OS.

There are two other drivers shown, one for NT 4.0 (4.1cs) and one for
Win 95, 98 and ME, (6.0es), and of course, there are a few for Macs, as
well.

Which driver did you download and install and from which website?

The 5.2 and the same status monitor. Directly from German Epson Site.

You might want to try the UK driver, just to see if it works correctly.
Or you might want to inform Epson Germany about your experience.

Seemed to be fixed with using the Microsoft Update Drivers while
reinstalling the printer.
I also activated some more protocols in the Bios (like ecp+epp), that were
probably resettet because of an bios update.
(It´s not my maschine by the way. I would have switched ´em on ;) )
Now the device is printing without problems. I hope it will last for some
days.

Aha! Glad to hear things are working now. Those bios selections are
critical for the printer to function, but I don't know if that explains
the issue you encountered or not, but the important point is it appears
to be working now.

Yes. I only could thought this was the problem. Like many PC problems, it
only counts that it works at last. No matter how 8)
