epson stylus 440 driver for xp?

Epson tech support said that I need to contact microsoft
windows xp as they have the updated driver to get my
epson stylus 440 printer to work with windows xp. Does
anyone know how I get this driver?

An Epson Stylus 440 driver is included on the Windows XP CD-ROM.
Printer drivers are the responsibility of the manufacturer, not
Microsoft. The manufacturer submits drivers to Microsoft for
certification. The certification is not done for free. To save
money the manufacturer may not include all the features of the
drivers for earlier operating systems in the drivers submitted for
Windows XP. As a convenience to the consumer, Microsoft may include
drivers on the Windows installation CD. Think of how impossible it
would be if you had to download drivers for your modem so that you
could download drivers for your modem.
