Epson RX600 incompatible with Linksys Wireless-G for USB2.0 print server WPS54GU2

I just got a new Epson RX600, brand spanking new model...and it won't
work with my brand spanking new Linksys WPS54GU2 print server. Epson
wrote me back and said no go.

The linksys conflict arises from the Epson spool manager. The Linksys
wants to handle the spooling..and that's fine by me. However, the
RX600 XP drivers don't include the Epson Spool Manager anymore, so I
can't configure/hand-over the spooling duties to the print server. So
I'm stuck.

p.s. I bought the HP2150 before the RX600 because of the built in
print server, but the driver software loads 1.5gb (GIGabytes) worth of
registry cluttering system tray hogging automatic service loading bull
on your system. You can't separate a basic print driver from the rest
of this...so I returned it and got this new Epson which is virtually
the same - but no fax. It's software is heaven, I only want the basic
print feature for b/w prints (8mb driver). My wife wants it all for
photo album creation, still not much at all and totally customizable
installs for every feature - very nice. But alas...you gotta walk
your computer over to it and plug it in (usb 2.0 so it's pretty
painless)...but aargh! My print server was $169!!! And all it can
host now is a 4 year old HPLaserJet3150...which I only use for the
fax.... crap.

I recently installed a Trendware Trendnet print server; my model includes 2
USB 1.1 ports and a parallel port. I have installed 2 inkjet printers
[Deskjet 55500/Stylus Photo R200] and a laser printer [Lexmark Optra E310].
After the print server is installed, I install each printer on a PC,
specifying that it will be connected to LPT1:. After the driver install, I
simply go into printer properties, and change the port to the correct
virtual port. I have done this on two of my systems so far, and it is
working flawlessly so far. The print server cost less than $70.00 from
Newegg. The biggest problems:
1. The print server has no initial IP, so I had to arp the mac address to
assign it an IP. Later, I configured it as static.
2. Even though the virtual ports are configured as bi-directional, I do not
get any ink level info from the driver.

Rawkin suggestion! Give the print server a static ip! That worked.
And yes, I, too, can't get the ink cartridge info, but who cares.

Thank you very much for the suggestion.
