Epson R300 - Power?

J

John McWilliams

My Epson R300 has gone dodgy, with the power button not working to turn
off the unit, and after unplugging and replugging it, the power button
works sometimes, sometimes not.

I've not read anything I can recall about power supplies to such
machines, but can anyone shed light on whether this is 'user fixable' or
not?

If you call Epson Tech Suppt they will be able to tell you exactly what
you want to know.

The power button isn't a switch, in the more typical electrical sense of
it actually completing or disconnecting current flow. There are logic
circuits involved, and based upon your description, I would guess either
a failing circuit or some corrosion or other problem altering electronic
component values. It is possible a bad ribbon cable or connection is
involved, but I'm more apt to expect a failing component in the power
supply.

You may have noticed that the printer doesn't just shut off it you turn
it off in the middle of some function. It will, for instance, set the
printer carriage back to the head parking area and lock the head down,
or do other functions prior to shutting down.
