Not if you print direct from memory card.

Why would one ever print a CD from the memory card even if one could?

is there a way to get the largable area? (I am using the card slot
to print direct from the printer)

To put a photo from a camera directly on a cd without dealing with a PC?

Seems like a pretty reasonable expectation to me, particularly if you
have one of those 'cd writer photo save' gadgets that transfers memory
card contents directly to a cd for archiving.

I bought the printer second hand off a boot sale - I did not get any
instructions or disks with it at all - and at £15 for the printer and
17 assorted sealed ink cartridges it is one of the best bargains I've
ever had!

If the cartridges are oem, maybe even if not, you got a fine deal- the
cartridges alone are worth it!

You should be able to find drivers for in on Epson's site, though maybe
not for the stand-alone CD design and print software.

I did not get any software with the printer and there is no specialist
CD printing software on the Epson site, just the card monitor and the
status monitor - what about the Nero CD software, would that work?

For Epson printers, you need their PrintCD software. The same
software works on Epson R200 series printers for sure, the R200, R220
and R260. I have had those three printers. The cover labels you make
using the Epson PrintCD software only work with Epson printer
drivers. That explains why discontinued Epson R220 printers fetch
such high prices on ebay - the R220s accept generic ink cartridges and
print faster and with less noise than the R260, now also
discontinued. For someone with a lot of CD and DVD covers created in
the proprietary Epson format, it is tough to see all that work lost.
