Epson R265 Compatible Cartridges

Hi folks,

I'm not sure if this is news, or not, but following my previous posts
about newer R265 printers being "double chipped" I've located a source
for non-oem cartridges that are claimed to work.

Before I buy some to try for myself, has anyone any experience of this
company - prink.co.uk?

The relevant web page is at http://tinyurl.com/2wn5ok

They also have a chip resetter for this printer, but it's currently out
of stock.

Your comments would be appreciated :)

I'm not sure if this is news, or not, but following my previous postsNo - but the Think+ cartridges I buy from Choice have always worked.
Trouble is it only works with original Epson cartrodges.

Thanks for that. It took me a while to locate the statement that the
carts work in the newer printers, but it's there :)

SG: Cheers for that. The wife has a trade account with them so she'll be
buying me some :)

SG: I know, but it leaves the way open to re-fill the current set of
originals in the printer :)

Thanks for the info :)

Interesting email from Choice today, as follows:
"If your printer was manufactured before 01 March 2007, then our current
compatible inks will work.
If your printer was manufactured after 01 April 2007, then the current
compatible ink cartridges will not work with your printer
If your printer was manufactured during March 2007, then the current
compatible ink cartridges may or may not work, it all depends if you
have the newer R265 version of printer.

The compatibles only work with the earlier, older version. If you are
unsure, we suggest you purchase just one compatible cartridge to test
in your printer first. The manufactures say the altered cartridges
should be
available at the end of July."

This proves what I have been saying. The word "compatible" is a
meaningless term. Now we have a compatible cartridge that is not
compatible. HA HA HA no no HE HE HE :-D

Now here the relabeler does not even know

I suggest you purchase OEM carts

SG: Not at all. If it doesn't work in your printer then the two are
incompatible. It's not meaningless at all. You really do need to brush
up on your English comprehension if you're going to play on Usenet.

SG: WRONG! Here the retailer is very well aware of the situation and has
the decency to tell the purchaser what that is. Even Epson are vague
about which printers made during March 2007 have the double-chip feature
fitted.

SG: Nope. Wrong again. I bought a sample from Prink and the first one
went into the printer last night ... and works fine! Just about to order
a few more :)

Hi Brian,

The manufacturing date isn't on the printer. In the UK you can call
Epson Tech Support and give them the serial number of the printer and
they'll tell you when it was manufactured. Dunno if the same facility is
available in the USA though.

IIUC, the R260 is the USA equivalent of the R265 and if that is true
then the cartridges are the same. Ergo you have the same
date/compatibility issues.

So far I have located 3 UK suppliers who can provide cartridges for the
post-April 2007 printers. To date I have tried only one but they do work.
