Curiously, the Epson site lists a status monitor for this printer that can
be used with XP but does not list a driver explicitly for XP. There is a
Windows 2000 driver that might be suitable. I do not know if it supports the
full capability/feature set of the printer.
The Windows 2000 driver seems to work just fine. However, to restore full
capabilities in advanced color and printer monitoring it is necessary to
install the XP (not 2000) update for the status monitor, which is listed at
the site mentioned in the reply to my posting. In comparison to printer
performance under WN98, the only thing I have noticed is that now the
progress meter goes away when printing starts instead of staying on until
