Make sure there isn't a plastic film across the cartridge's electrical
contacts or ink outlet. Check the software that installed with the
printer driver for test page and print head cleaning functions.

Some people refill cartridges, but the success avoiding things like
leakage and the printer manufacturer's cartridge expiration schemes
varies. Refilling, of course, accomplishes nothing if the problem lies
within some other part of the printer.

How long since you last printed something? If it has been a while you
wouldn't be able to rule out a clogged or otherwise malfunctioning print
head. I think many Epson printers only provide for customer replacement
of the ink supply tanks, leaving the original components that actually
spray ink on the paper in the printer.

"Tesco version"? Is this a reference to a replacement cartridge made by
someone other than Epson? This could impact ink quality, quantity or
even compatibility with Epson's efforts to get you to buy genuine Epson
cartridges instead of refilling or buying substitute brands.
