Epson C64: cheap waterproof ink refills, possible & available?

N

Nell

All I need is a basic colour printer and I think I'll go for the Epson
C64.

Advice please on whether the four carts of the Epson C64 can easily be
refilled with a good quality waterproof ink that is CHEAP (in the UK)?

Any warnings concerning other factors gratefully received - including
positive comments too.

Many Thanks,
Nell.

The JetTec compatible cartridges are due end of this month as true pigmented
black and colour for the C64/C84 new range. Beware of many inks which do not
state or the distributors refuse (neglect) to state whether they are
supplying pigmented inks. Pigmented Inks can be supplied but in 1 litre
containers upwards and cost a few quid.

I notice you are in the UK, but do you happen to know when might Jet Tec
compatible cartridges for C64 may come out in Canada? I live in Toronto and
Future shop, a Canadian chain store, has Jet Tec cartridges (not for C64 yet
and maybe other stores do too, but I don't know what other stores.

The factory (hope they don't read these newsgroups) are somewhat naughty in
that their schedules tend to overun a bit. They have large orders so it
could reach Canada about 2005 I guess :)
There is a announce group on Inkylink and at aah-haa.com and if you signed
up you would at least know when I'm filling advance orders. But I don't mind
shipping to Canada and have quite a few customes there.

Tony - Well, I hope you are wrong about 2005 :). Surely they won't be that
long. Don't they have factories in Canada and other countries where they
sell Jet Tec compatible cartridges? Or do they only make Jet tec compatible
cartridges in the UK? I wonder if its going to take longer to get compatible
cartridges for the C64 Epson because of it having 4 cartridges instead of 2.
I'm not convinced that it is a good idea to make three cartridges for the 3
colours. I just ran out of black cart a week ago and was forced to buy an
Epson black cart, and now all three colours need to be replaced. I can see
myself having to run back and forth for different colours all the time.

Thank you, but I think it would be a lot more economical and convenient for
me to get them at a Future shop store here which is about an 8 minute drive
from my house, and there are another couple of these stores not far from me,
and no shipping charges. But, the only problem is, there is no way to know
when they might be available here.
Maybe I will sign up on your site to find out when your advance orders are.
It wouldn't do any harm.
Thanks again.

If you can afford $40 (US) buy a C82 (Amazon.com), there are ultrachrome
equivalent carts available for it or $8.50 (black) $7.50 (color) from
MIS. I dont know if they sell internationally or not, but it couldn't
hurt to ask.

They are www.inksupply.com and they are selling them now.

I just bought my C64 printer a couple of months ago, so a little early to
buy another printer :). It wouldn't be necessary for me to buy
internationally as there will eventually be enough sources for ink refilling
and compatible cartridges for the C64 in stores here in Toronto. Also,
buying from another country involves me having to pay shipping plus Customs
duty and taxes. Its not worth the hassle. I'll just wait till they get the
Jet tec carts or refill inks here.

Thanks anyway.
