Epson Aculaser C2000 power-on error

Repeatedly, early on in the self-test this Aculaser C2000 colour printer
shows "Service Req E008" on the display and will go no further.
User guide explains only that "a controller error or print engine error
has been detected" and suggests unplugging and contacting a service to
qualified service rep.
This is a used machine, newly acquired, which seems to have performed
well until recently.
Can anyone suggest troubleshooting steps to take or any online source of
info on this machine before I contact Epson?
TIA for any help.

It's a main motor error. You should check the motor connector and
gears.

Any idea where I might find a service manual or even a parts diagram?
