HP Laserjet 5 Colour 54.3 Error

Suggestions on this one..

HP LaserJet 5 Colour - Im getting an "Error number 54.3(engine error)" on
the front panel after 1 print. If I power cycle the machine it prints 1 or 2
pages then drops to the engine error again.

I've had a look at the manual and it refers to low toner concentrate???..
The first page out each time is fine, none of the colours are faded or
excessively bright. There seems to be a goodly amount of toner in each
holder and I've given it a stir with a pen to make sure its not compacted.

Any suggestions?

TIA

According to the service manual, a 54.3 error has about 5 major
cause.. Look for the causes as follows:
1 - defective toner concentration sensor
2 - failure of the toner hoppersensor or toner supply mechanism
3 - too much or too little toner in the developer
4 - defective toner sensor PCA
5 - incorrect NVRAM values caused by;
- not installing correct NVRAM on the controll PCA
- installing NVRAM incorrectly
- defective NVRAM
- installing a used developer.

IMHO, you need to take this in to a pro to check it out and repair if
necessary. Best regards

Frank
