Epson 830u Printer Not Printing

I have an epson printer setup on my WinXP PC, with the latest drivers.

However when I send a print job to the printer nothing happens. I've
tried the various maintenance options in the printer utility but they
don't print.

The middle light is always red or blinking red.

On the rare occasion I can get the printer to take in paper, it just
spits out the paper straightaway without even trying to print it. (and
it takes ALL sheets of paper together if there is more than one in the
feed tray).

I don't think the nozzles are blocked, verified this with visual
inspection.

The printer's behaviour seems totally bizarre. I havn't a clue about
inkjet printers, so anyone have any ideas?

The exact sequence of lights will tell you what the printer is reporting.
Can you advise what the green power light is doing and what sequence of
blinking red error lights you are getting?

Solved it now after installing the Epson Status monitor. It was a tray
loading problem, the loading mechanism on this thing is extremely badly
designed. Even now 4/5 times it doesn't work.

There are several possible problem here including communications with
the computer (cable problem) driver problems, lack of adequate hard
drive space, mechanical paper transport issues, etc.

If you remove the connection (while both are off) between the printer
and the computer can you run a test page from the front panel using
whichever button presses required (should be in your manual, under 'test
print')

Once you determine if that is working or not, post back here, and I can
give you some suggestions of where to go next.
