Epson 1290 freebie

I have had an Epson 1290 as a freebie, not printing, but hey worht
looking at!

I have found a fuse F1 to be a common problem reported on the net, it
controls overcurrent to the printhead, this is however fine :-(

It will not print anything, It has two non genuine cartridges
installed, should I suspect them?
also anyone have any experience of cleaning the ink ways on the 1290?

I think I'll invest in an inkjet flush syringe to give it a go.

any ideas most welcome.

I think I'll invest in an inkjet flush syringe to give it a go.

Before doing that remove the top of the printer to have access to the
parking station. Use the appropriate button sequence to move the head to
the left as if you were going to change cartridges. You now have complete
access to the parking station Soak the pad in the parking station with
"windex" let sit for a while and then blot with paper towel. Repeat this
process over and over until the pad is clean. Then soak the pad with windex
and repark the head. Let this sit for several hours. Then repeat all the
above. Repeat this total procedure until no more dried ink residue is
removed from the bottom of the head.Then try some cleaning cycles after
which see if ink is being deposited on the pad. You may need to leave the
head soaking multiple times overnight to get all the deposits to dissolve.

May I suggest prior to your buying a flush kit and definitely before
using a pressure syringe cleaning, which is more than likely going to
delaminate the head from the pressure, that you email me and ask for the
Epson Cleaning Manual.

Just mention the model number of your printer and the difficulty and I
will email you a copy free of charge. It suggests using some common
household cleaning items.
