Epson 1250 and 2400

Let's consider two same-purpose scanners:
Epson Perfection 2400 Photo and Epson Perfection 1250 Photo
The 2400 seems to fully beat the 1250 in every spec, but their prices
are the same (or the 2400 is even cheaper).
How come?
Provided the same use, is the 2400 *really* better?
(we could add the Epson Perfection 1650 Photo, which is even more
expensive, but I don't want to complicate things).
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Because the 2400 Photo is on its way to being discontinued, it was replaced
with the 3200 Photo. Epson and dealers are trying to sell current stock.

Thanks CSM1 for your answers.
Many things are clearer now and easier for me to decide.

Would you still recommend the purchase of the 2400 then? I'm in the
market for a scanner and was leaning towards the 2400. Is there
something similar that is better for the price?

Thanks,
Chad
