Envelope alert

I am just wondering how to get rid of the evnelope alert that pops up when
you receive a new message after I click on the new message. I know how to get
rid of it altogether however it only disappears when I open the new message
in its own window, delete the message or click on a different message.

Are you saying you want the icon to go away when you view it in the reading
pane? Enable the option to mark the message as read when viewed in the
reading pane. Tools>Options>Other>Reading Pane is where you find it.
