I just installed SP4. Now, every time I boot up, I get
the following error: "spoolsv.exe - Entry Point Not
Found". "The procedure entry point GetPrinterA could not
be located in the dynamic link library SPOOLSS.dll."

How do I fix this?

try this:

1. Uninstalled SP4
2. Delete the printers.
3. Export the String Value and named it HPBMMOND.OLD
4. Delete the string in the Registry.
5. Download Drivers and reboot.
6. Load the driver
7. Reboote
8. Installe Windows 2000 SP4 Network Edition
9. Reboot.

Hope this helps. Regards,

Fabio

Try F8 menu last known good configuration to reboot and
unload SP 4 then get in line for what to do next. Good

I had the same problem and called MSFT and blew the big $245 on a
professional support incident. I had to delete a bunch of third party print
monitors HP, Ricoh, and a bunch of other companies. Since then my print
server has been fine. Look at:

HKLM\system\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors

Not all the monitors in there should be deleted. My advice is to check a
Win2k server that has NO printers installed and compare its registry
contents with your problem server. Delete the keys that are different and
reboot. You will, of course, backup this reg key before mucking with it,
right? Good.

My Fix

I experienced this problem after installing the latest patch for Metaframe XP XE104W2KR02.msp. When I searched my harddrive for HPBMMON.DLL I found 2 versions. One copy in c:/winnt/system32 (version 10.0.0.14) the other copy in C:/WINNT/system32/spool/drivers/w32/x86/3(version 10.0.0.16). I renamed the copy in system32 to .old, this resolved my issue. I suspect that the working version needs to be higher than the 10.0.0.14.

If that was the only version that you have you could install some current HP drivers and check for a update. I did not have to delete the Print Monitor values from the registry.

As a temporary fix I was able to set the print spooler service to manual. Once the server was up I could start it without problems.

Thanks to all the previous posters. This really helped me out.
