Entries in Favorites Missing

I am running Windows XP SP3 and IE7. About once or twice a month a single
entry in my Favorites in IE7 will be missing. At first I thought I must have
accidently deleted it and didn't think much about it. Then it happened again
with a different entry. I started paying very close attention when using the
bookmarks to ensure that I wasn't just having a senior moment and now it has
just happened for the third time. I am the only user of the computer and
rarely delete bookmarks. Virus protection is current and all disks have been
scanned.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions as to what is going
on?

No answers, but you're not going crazy. The same thing has happened to me.
When I went to reinstate the missing favourite, it says it's already there
and do I want to over write? I say yes, it saves, but then it's not listed
in the folder. Very strange.

The IE Favorites and Links drop down lists are just shortcuts in
folders, usually here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Favorites for the
Favorites and there is a Links folder under that for links.

You can create, copy, paste, rename, delete stuff in here just like
regular files.

If one is missing from IE. or if you try to create one and it says it
is already there, check in the actual folder to see if it is really
missing or is really already there. If it is missing, it may be in
your Recycle Bin if is was accidentally deleted. If it is already
there and not showing up in IE, that is another problem, but now you
can perhaps figure it out.

If it is in the folder and it is NOT showing up in IE, then that is
the problem to troubleshoot, or how did it get removed from the folder
by other than your own doing (maybe a mistake).

For a more pleasurable browsing experience, you might try Firefox for
a while.
