Enterprise Laptop on home network

I have a small home network. I also have a laptop from work that usually
joins a domain. My laptop can plug into the network and connect to the
internet. I want my laptop to be able to utilize my home printer and maybe
share some files. From my desktop home computer I can see my laptop via
entire network/Microsoft Windows network. I am asked to supply a valid login
and then I can see shares. From my laptop, when I try to do the same thing I
get an error message "network not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource... Both machines are XP pro. What settings do I
need to change?

Information from MVP Lanwench - You don't need to change to a workgroup
just to access resources on it. You shouldn't play with your laptop's
network settings at all. Once you've logged in using your domain account
(using cached credentials), and have an IP address on the home network,
you can map drives, use printers, whatnot, very easily - one way, in a
command line:

net use x: \\computername\sharename /user:computername\username <enter>
