I have a Compaq Presario preloaded with Win XP SP2. When I receive some
attachments in a Email and try to open them, it always opens in "Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer"! When I try to Open With using "Recommended programs
or Other Programs", it sort of gets jumbled! Is it NOT possible to open them
using any other program like say Word or PowerPoint or Excel etc?

What type of files are the attachments? Normally, if they were Word
or PowerPoint files, then they would open in these applications. OTOH,
picture files (e.g., *.jpg, *.gif, etc.) are opened by the designated
default application for them. And, in this instance, for want of a
different viewer program, the default might just happen to be Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer.

Want to list whether or not there are alternative picture viewing
applications installed in the computer?

Thanks. What I have is a TIF image. It is a Shipping Invoice attached to an
Email. I need to open and print. It opens in "Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer". My real problem is when I want to print it. From "Windows Picture
and Fax Viewer", print command takes me to "Photo Printing Wizard" and even
after adjusting the settings in the Inkjet Printer(Epson), the printing
takes up a lot of INK! As such, I wanted to know, if I could open it with
any other program, so as to save on INK?

What other picture viewing applications that can be installed?

Try getting faststone image viewer. Its a freeware item. It does a lot
and may be complex but it does load a tif and has a view / print / and
edit features. I like it for isolated features.
