I have recently un-installed Norton Internet Security, and now downloaded
some new programs. Can you tell me please if I have enough protection and if
all these programs are compatible?
Antispyware (Real time)-Windows Defender. Others, (on demand) Ad-Aware
2007, Spyware Doctor, Spy Blaster.
Antivirus. (Realtime) avast 4 home ed. Others (on demand) - can't find any
that are compatible with Windows Vista.
Thanks.

They all look good and compatible to me. You only need and should have only
one antivirus, so avast will do. Some people like Super AntiSpyware and
SpyBot Search and Destroy. I had both of those, too, but removed SpyBot.
It was taking up too much cpu. Super AntiSpyware uses a lot of cpu, too,
but only when you use it on demand. Don't have that scanning along with
your other scan(s). I also have SpySweeper, but that is a cpu hog, too, so
I only use it to scan once a week.

Thanks for info. Do you know of an 'on demand' AV which works with Vista?
Thanks

To answer your question, no. But you don't want an "on demand" AV. You
need an AV in real time, which you have. You don't want to get infected and
then have a scan show the infection and then attempt to remove it.
